MassFinder 3: Compatibility and System Requirements

Compatibility to GC/MS data files

MassFinder 3 can read the following GC/MS data files natively:

If in doubt, we will check MassFinder's compatibility with your data files free of charge. Please contact us prior to submitting any files.

Please note, that many MS acquisition programs can export data in JCAMP-DX format. There are many different variations of JCAMP and we try to offer the best compatibility. However, we can not guarantee that all kinds of JCAMP files and all data contained in those files can be read without limitations. In most cases, it is possible to improve and adapt our JCAMP import filter to new variations free of charge.

Compatibility to GC/MS libraries

MassFinder stores its own libraries in the proprietary MFL file format. You can create and maintain your personal mass spectral libraries and MassFinder can import libraries given in JCAMP-DX (*.jdx/*.jdl) or MSP format.

The download section contains a tutorial explaining how to easily convert your personal Agilent HP ChemStation MS Libraries to MassFinder.

Please note that MassFinder is meant to work with proprietary, medium-sized libraries (up to 10.000 spectra), which can be administrated conveniently and searched in real-time. However, MassFinder is currently not able to access huge libraries such as Wiley and NIST (more than 100.000 entries).

System Requirements

License Conditions and Copy-Protection

MassFinder 3 is copy-protected by a hardware-based system requiring a USB dongle to be connected to your computer. You may install MassFinder on as many computers as you like, but only one instance per license can be executed at any given time. The installation CD-ROM is not copy-protected and it is possible to deploy and backup MassFinder from network drives.

The license management system supports local area network accessibility, so you may connect the dongle to one computer and may access the license from any workstation of the same local area network. This makes sharing a single license very convenient and also allows connecting the dongle to a secure computer rather than transporting the dongle from one workstation to the next.
